Sephora Play! July Subscription

Hi friends! Today I have the Sephora Play! July Subscription! Yay! So I recently saw that Sephora points expire after 18 months. Basically, that means no more stocking up. That’s going to make it harder to save for those large ticket rewards. :/ I’m not in an uproar about it but it still stinks. Let’s get started with the review!

Here’s the cute bag that all my items came in. They also had the product description pamphlet.
Here is the first side of the fold out pamphlet. This features fun ways to relax and pamper yourself while at home and on vacation.
The second side features all the products that I received in my bag. I was pretty happy this month. I either got products I love or products that I wanted to try. Score!
Here is a quick shot of all the items from this month.

Let’s breakdown the items…

This is the VineActive serum by Caudalie. This is a glow activating anti-wrinkle treatment. Caudalie has a patented Anti-Cell Burn-out Complex that helps skin damage caused by pollution, stress and other problems caused by, well, life.
The back of this serum has instructions on how much product to apply. After cleaning and toning, apply to your face and neck. You can use it under you makeup also. 🙂
This is seriously one of my favorite face masks. I always make sure I have some on hand when travelling or just to use at home. This gel mask hydrates and tones and has a nice addition of rosewater and rose petals.
The pack of the canister has the how to directions, distribution information, and the 0.5 fluid ounces. I love that you can use this mask daily. Apply all over your face, watch your eyes and mouth, and rinse clean in five to ten minutes.
Here is a close-up shot of the rose face mask. You can see all the textures in there and the small pieces of rose petals. The smell is so lovely and not overpowering. This reminds me of how hot and sour soup looks but all rosy.
The third item is Briogeo’s Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-in Conditioner Treatment. Phew. That was a lot to say. This product isn’t greasy thank the stars. I’m so picky with leave-in treatments and this I liked. This milk spray is a mix of coconut, rose, and argan oil.
The back of the bottle has an ingredient list and a quick reading about their product. This treatment is sulfate-free, paraben-free, silicone-free, phthalate-free, has no artificial colors and No DEA. Yay! All you have to do to use this spray it onto clean, wet hair and either blow dry or air dry your hair.
This is a lipstick from Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea line in shade ‘Set Sail’. I really liked the color of the tube and the lipstick shade.
The bottom of the tube has the shade name in the middle and the distribution information. This product is 0.035 ounces. Did you know that all the Rainforest of the Sea products contain algae and marine flowers to help soften and smooth areas that you apply makeup to?
The shade ‘Set Sail’ is a pretty dark rose shade that has a mild scent and a buttery texture. You can apply this by using a lip brush or applying directly. Start in the middle over to the corners of your lips.
Here is an arm swatch of Set Sail. I love this color. For the most part, this shade is pretty long-lasting and is full-coverage.
The fifth product is a Bobbi Brown’s Eye Opening mascara. This formula is supposed to thicken, curl and lift your lashes. This product also boasts how easy it is to remove after application.
The
The other side of the tube just has the name of the mascara and a barcode.
Here is a shot of the applicator. The instructions say to remove this mascara, just use warm water. I liked this mascara but I hated how the product didn’t fully coat the applicator brush.
The fragrance of the month is from Clean and is the scent ‘Sueded Oud’. I adore Clean perfumes because of how the packaging is recyclable and everything is cruelty-free.
The back of the sample has the ingredients and the ounces (0.05) it is flammable.
The inside of the tester has a sustainable mission statement and information about the perfume. The Fragrance Family is described as Earthy and Woody. The top notes are: Honeysuckle, blue cypress, and bitch wood. The middle notes are: Temple oud and night blooming Jasmine. The base notes are: Soft suede, gold patchouli, and black amber.

That’s it for the July Sephora Play! Subscription. How do you all feel about the upgraded membership for the one-time only black box? What about the points? Xo

Tarte and Sephora Birthday Exclusive Reward!

Hi friends! My birthday is in six days and then I kiss my 20s goodbye. When I did my last Sephora purchase I decided to cash in some points and grab my birthday gift. They had the Fresh skincare set, a Jack Black skincare set and this new Tarte blush and lipstick mini that I’ve never seen before. I was intrigued and chose this cute guy.

Look at how cute this little duo is! Both are very light shades that compliment every skin tone.

I took a bunch of photos of this cute bundle and yes the shades are exclusive to the birthday set.

The back of the box shows that this set is vegan and cruelty-free! Yay! It has an ingredient list of both the blush and the lipstick and their names!

This was a pretty shot of both products. My vanity is proving to be a nice place to take detailed photos.

Now for the swatches. I did a brush and finger swatch of the blush and a lip swatch of the lipstick. Enjoy!

Here is the arm swatch of the blush. If you notice, it is very subtle when a brush is used.

And now for the lip swatch!

Please excuse the discontent on my face. It was in the middle of a year wave and I wasn’t too happy. Haha. This shade is a darker nude that works great with my skin tone.

There you all have it! I enjoyed both products and this nude lipstick actually doesn’t look awkward like some of them do on my skin. Xo!

Sephora Play! May Edition!

Hi friends! I received this box yesterday but I already blogged and I was helping my mom with her hair and doing one of those Tony Moly Therapy Clay masks! I have another fun post coming today because my Storybook Cosmetics Wizardry and Witchcraft eyeshadow palette is out for delivery! Yay! I’m purposely waiting to blog about it today.

In other news, Chris Cornell passed away. Rest in peace to a talented performer. My good friends took their daughter to have open heart surgery this morning so I’m also hoping for the best for her. ❤ She was diagnosed as having ASD (Atrial Septal Defect) and has a six hour procedure.

This month’s Play box featured some cult favorites that are in the rise. Included is a highlighter stick, perfume, a hair mask, lip plumper, resurfacing mask, and a blurring stick.

Each box comes with a fold out pamphlet. The first side goes through seven things you didn’t know you could do at Sephora. That is also where your Play! Pass is located. You can redeem the pass by purchasing anything at Sephora and presenting the pass. You get an extra 50 Beauty Insider points added to your account.
Here is the back side of the pamphlet. This shows you all your samples for this month. There is always a perfume sample of the month which I love.
Usually when you get your box it comes in a drawstring fabric bag. This one is a jelly like plastic latch bag. I prefer this more than the others.

I’m going to go over the samples now and show you pictures of course! 🙂

Our first sample is Grande Lips clear lip plumper. This formula has a Hyaluronic Acid-infused formula. It plumps and softens lips over time. Alicia Grande is the founder of the company and she started with an eyelash formula.
Here is the inside of the deluxe sample. It says that this will instantly plump lips in three to five minutes. GrandeLIPS is gluten free, paraben free and is not tested on animals. If you look, the pictures of the lips are after a 30 day study and applied twice daily.
Here is a picture of the applicator. It is a flat rounded applicator. You apply this product to clean, dry lips. You can wear it alone or layer under other lip products. And for the best results, use twice daily.

To be honest, my lips are pretty full on their own so I probably won’t be using much of this product.

The second item is Rahua Omega 9 Hair Mask. This is a conditioning treatment that is salon quality. It is full of omega oils that soak into damaged or dull hair to add shine and make it vibrant again. This has Rahua nut oil in it which Amazonian tribes used in their hair, apparently.
As you can see this is made from all natural ingredients. The directions are simple. After you shampoo, apply to your hair and comb through. Leave in for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse out. Use it once a week.

I’m going to use this today with the Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask and I will check in with you all after I use both.

Edit: this stuff smells great and makes my hair feel very light and healthy.

The third item is the Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask. This is a non-irritating mask that works like a peel treatment to purify and revitalize skin with a blend of botanicals.
A fun fact about Tata Harper is that she was once an engineer. All of these masks are made in small batches by her and a group of chemists. It has eleven natural ingredients, for example, pomegranate enzymes and French pink clay. To use it, you apply a thick layer to a clean face and leave on for 20 to 30 minutes (10 if you have sensitive skin) and rinse with warm water. Use once a week for normal skin or three times a week for oil and blemish control.

I’m seriously excited to use this because I love masks! Considering these are made in small batches and have natural ingredients, I’m sold!

Edit: I kept this on for the full 30 minutes. Like most peel masks do, it tightened like crazy. But you didn’t have to peel it off, you just washed your face with warm water and it dissolved. My skin feels great!

The fourth item is a blur stick from Milk Makeup. This is a matte coverage blur stick. It smooths and primes skin by minimizing pores and fine lines. This company is pretty popular. I’ve heard good things and then I’ve heard some not so good things like clogged pores and breakouts.
This is what the color is of the blur stick. These containers were designed for one hand application and ease. To apply this, you simply swipe all over your face and blend. You can wear it alone but it is a better primer for foundation.

Despite what I heard about clogged pores and breakouts, I’m going to still try this out. I’ve been super curious about this brand since I’ve seen their holographic sticks.

The fifth item is a highlight and multipurpose stick by Trèstique. This formula has coconut oil infused in it. This is also a very subtle champagne pink shade. These are good if you’re looking for a quick shine boost throughout the day.
Here is a swatch of the highlighter stick. The shade is called Maldives Luminescent. To apply this, draw on your cheekbones, bridge of nose, brow bones, inner and outer eyelid corners, and cupid’s bow. Or less if you like. All you do is pat with your fingers to blend out. Make sure you do this before your foundation!

I always say that most highlighters are wasted on me because I wear glasses so I have this to my mom because I know she’ll use it 😃

The last item is the Perfume of the Month. This month is Clean’s Reserve Sel Santal. I love how earthy and natural this smells. This brand uses cruelty-free ingredients and recyclable materials. This scent was inspired by woods, ocean air and fig leaves.
Here’s the inside of the sample. It has some quick blurbs about the scent profiles and a mission statement. The fragrance family is: Earthy and Woody. The Top Notes: Mandarin, Bergamot, and Nutmeg tonic. Middle Notes: Violet, Salted Fig, and Hazlenut Cream. Base Notes: Amber, Styrax, Rose Musk and Sandalwood.

I love this perfume sample. It made the entire box smell fantastic. I was overall pretty happy with the samples given! Xo

Kat Von D Lolita Cheek and Eye Blush!

Coming soon next month Kat Von D is releasing her popular liquid lip shade, Lolita as a blush and eye shade! It will be available through Sephora!

Edit: it has been announced that this will be only $19, limited edition and definitely a June release through Sephora!

Double Edit: June 6th to be exact!

Sephora Play! (March)

Hey everybody! I finally got everything figured out with my website as far as the mapping and technical aspects go. I received this box yesterday but I was feeling quite like Jack Torrance because I’ve been snowed in my house for three days so for my sanity I took some time outside. Anywhooo, back to the Sephora Play! Box.

This month was all about shine. Products from Benefit, Glamglow, Josie Maran, Bobbi Brown, Living Proof, and Chloé.

This was the bag and insert from this month.

Here’s a photo dump of all the products that came in this month!

A Bobbi Brown cream shadow stick in shade ‘Golden Pink’
Benefit Cosmetics ‘Watt’s Up!’ Cream to powder highlighter
Living Proof’s full dry volume blast. This smells amazing!
Josie Maran’s Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm. Please excuse my nails. Blech.
Glamglow’s GLOWSTARTER Mega Illuminating Moisturizer
Perfume of the month: Chloé’s ‘Fleur de Parfum’
Here are some swatches of the products (from top to bottom: Benefit, Bobbi Brown, Glamglow, and Josie Maran)

Oddly enough, everything in this box works well and smells great!
