Tarte and Sephora Birthday Exclusive Reward!

Hi friends! My birthday is in six days and then I kiss my 20s goodbye. When I did my last Sephora purchase I decided to cash in some points and grab my birthday gift. They had the Fresh skincare set, a Jack Black skincare set and this new Tarte blush and lipstick mini that I’ve never seen before. I was intrigued and chose this cute guy.

Look at how cute this little duo is! Both are very light shades that compliment every skin tone.

I took a bunch of photos of this cute bundle and yes the shades are exclusive to the birthday set.

The back of the box shows that this set is vegan and cruelty-free! Yay! It has an ingredient list of both the blush and the lipstick and their names!

This was a pretty shot of both products. My vanity is proving to be a nice place to take detailed photos.

Now for the swatches. I did a brush and finger swatch of the blush and a lip swatch of the lipstick. Enjoy!

Here is the arm swatch of the blush. If you notice, it is very subtle when a brush is used.

And now for the lip swatch!

Please excuse the discontent on my face. It was in the middle of a year wave and I wasn’t too happy. Haha. This shade is a darker nude that works great with my skin tone.

There you all have it! I enjoyed both products and this nude lipstick actually doesn’t look awkward like some of them do on my skin. Xo!

Sephora Play! June Box!

Hi friends! Today I have the Sephora Play! June subscription box to share with you all!

The emphasis for this month are summer items! There is a really cute print for the beach and swimming!

The first side of the pamphlet tells you some beauty tips for the humid summer weather. It tells you tips on how to moisturize, how to wear the perfect ponytail, to use cream formulas in the summer rather than powders, apply a hair mask before going in sea water, and some other tips for colored hair and chlorine.

The back side shows you all the products that will hook you up this summer! Yay! There’s two hair creams, tinted moisturizer, a primer sunscreen, lipstick and a scent!

Let’s get started with the products!

Here they all are lined up in a cute little row!

The first item is from Bumble and Bumble. This is their ‘Don’t Blow It’ hair cream. It enhances your hair’s natural texture and conditions.

After your shower, you want to towel dry your hair and then add about a some sized portion to your hair and work it in. Allow to dry and rock your day!

The next item is Tarte’s Tarteguard 20 tinted moisturizer in medium. This has lightweight coverage and is packed with vitamin A and E!

This fun item is super easy to use. You apply it with your fingertips and just blend it into your face 🙂

The third item is Briogeo’s Curl Charisma. It has rice amino acids and avocado for a really natural leave in treatment. This product fights frizz and makes your hair look less sticky.

To apply this treatment, you put a quarter size amount in your hair and scrunch it with your hands. This is cruelty-free and is completely free of the evil six.

The fourth item up is Murad’s Invisiblur Perfecting Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 30. This product is a primer merged with a sunscreen that blurs lines and blurs pores. I used this last summer and loved it.

Here is the back of the box. It shows all the active ingredients, uses, warnings and instructions.

For a sample, they give you a decent amount.

To use this, you rub an even amount on your face, neck and chest. You can wear it under makeup, over makeup or just by its self.

The last product is Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in shade K-Dub. I’m very impressed with the new formula. I wasn’t a fan of the older because the darker shades were patchy and wouldn’t dry down for me.

Here is a quick picture of the bottom of the lipstick. It has the name of the shade and all the product information.

Of course I did some swatches for all of you!

Here’s the arm swatch of K-Dub! This formula smells faintly of vanilla and is a beautiful bright pink.

This is what K-Dub looks like applied to the lips! It went on evenly and dries quickly! I love It!
As for the perfume of the month…

Alien by Thierry Mugler. I know this scent is a huge cult favorite but I hate it so much. I was so completely disappointed.

The notes for this perfume are listed here: Top Note: Jasmine Sambac, Middle Note: Cashmeran Wood, and Base Note: Ambergris. I don’t like this scent because of how strong it is. It over powers my senses and yikes, it’s just too much.

There you have it for June’s play box! Enjoy! Xo

Tarte Make Believe in Yourself Palette Swatches!

Hi loves! It’s a beautiful day outside and I decided to blog early so there’s time to enjoy the sunshine! A good palette to emphasize on color today would be this limited edition Tarte palette! This palette was released earlier this year. This palette retails for $40 and has ten eyeshadows and one highlighter included.

Here’s the front of the palette. It is a sturdy plastic and is a circle. Think of a bigger compact. It has a pretty jewel design on the top.
Here’s the back of the palette. There isn’t much information there just the palette name, serial number, weight, and company location.
Here’s the inside of the palette. The shadows are set up around the highlighter. There is one matte shade to use as a base and the rest are shimmer and sparkle shades. There is a pretty nice mirror in this palette.
Here’s a more stylized picture of the shadows and highlighter. I put it on Instagram to show texture and sparkle.

I did five swatches at a time so there will be two groups and then a swatch of the highlighter.

Here are the first five shadows. Myth is a pretty matte pinky greige shade. Magic is a coppery metallic shade. Wings is a metallic orange. Marvel is a silver sparkle. Trance is a dark lavender with some sparkle in it. Some of these shades are pretty stiff but still blendable with a brush.
These are the next five. These shadows are more pigmented with a pearl like quality. Fairy is a dark purple with a sparkle shift. Mystic is a gray shade with a sparkle shift. Dream is a pretty blue green with a subtle shift. Crystal is a very muted pink purple with a gold shift. Pixie is a light pink with gold shift. It reminds me of Sugarpill’s Trinket liquid lipstick.
Here’s swatches of the highlighter located in the middle of the pan. It packs a punch when swatched with a finger. I wish it was more visible when brushed but if you’re looking for a subtle shimmer, this is a good choice.

There is a lot more to this set. There’s brushes, liquid lipsticks, mascara, and dipliner. If you love fun limited-edition makeup, snag this adorable palette for the ultimate glitter and shimmer looks.

Messy Makeup Look #1!

Okay I’m going to be completely honest with all of you. I’m not very neat and tidy when doing my makeup like some people. I have a vanity but since I’ve been a teenager, I’ve always done my makeup on my bed. So typically when I get ready my bed looks like this:

I work better in chaos most of the time. But today, I’m going to show you all a step by step look in how I do my everyday between chaos.
This is the primer that I used for today’s look. I love Smashbox’s primers. This one is a pore fiiller and helps your face achieve that airbrushed look.
This is what the primer looks like on. It’s not colored or anything but this is also a picture of what I look like before this look.
Next, I add my foundation or BB. This is one of my favorites because it doesn’t look pasty and it applies easily. It costs me about $15 and is a Korean brand.
As you can see I applied the BB to my face. The Holika Holika BB comes with an applicator paddle so it’s is easy to grab how much you need without waste.
For step three, blend out your foundation by brush, sponge, etc… my favorite method is the Beauty Blender. I’m sorry it is so dirty, he needs a bath lol
Here it is all blended together! If you use a Beauty Blender, make sure that you wet it before use and you pat. Do not drag across the skin. Also, pro tip, please remember to blend into your neck so it looks natural and not like you’re wearing a mask.
For step four, I didn’t add an application picture because this is just a white powder. This is my favorite finishing powder. The packaging and how smooth it makes your foundation look is fantastic. I use Tarte’s kabuki brush for this powder.
For Step Five, I apply my eye primer. This is the only product that will make my eyeshadow stay put. I have really watery eyes so this is a complete godsend. All you do is take a small amount and rub it onto your eyelid until it is fully blended in. I don’t have an applied picture just because this is a skin color and not noticeable in photos.
For Step Six, I’m using the new Eclipse Inner Glow Creme and seeing how it works for me! I was confused how to apply it since almost every video does it a different way. I prefer cool dark tones for contour instead of bronzer just because I’m not tan and it makes my face look funny.
This is how Eclipse looks out of the compact. This isn’t exactly black, the more you play with it, it can be purple and a dark berry shade as well. Interesting product that uses natural ingredients and smells lovely.
I decided that using my finger to apply the shade as a contour would bet best bet. I just applied it where your contour normally goes. If you make a kissy face and keep it diagonal from the top of your ear, that’s where the contour should go.
Here is what Eclipse looks like when it is fully blended out. I used my Glamour Girls X Lisa Frank brush for this. It was pretty easy to blend. Success.
This is the blush that I used for Step Seven. This was the shattered blush that came in the Beautycon Box.
If you want to apply blush, smile and look for the apples of your cheek and then pat and blend back. That way you don’t look like a clown.
Here is what my end result looks like for my cheek and contour area. I do like mine a bit more dramatic than most but you have to do what makes you comfortable.
For Step Eight, I do my eyebrows. I’m using Wunderbrow Wunder2 in Black. This stuff takes practice to apply and a little goes a long way.
I did one eyebrow fully just so you all can see the difference between them when I do the other.
For Step One in eyebrows, you have to outline the bottom of the brow so they don’t end up too big or crooked.
For Step Two you want to lightly fill in your eyebrow and make the top part of your arch.
For Step Three always remember that the spoolie brushes help make your brows more natural by feathering the product and not keeping harsh lines on the front of your eyebrows.
For Step Nine, I started eyeshadow. I used Kat Von D Innerstellar eyeshadow palette with the middle four colors. I numbered them by steps.
For Step One we will be applying our base shade. This gets added on the eyelid and blending upward to the brow.
Here’s what the shade looks like on the eyelid. You want to keep it on the same form and don’t go crazy and go heavy on the entire eye.
For Step Two, add this shade to your inner crease and blend to the outer crease.
Here’s where you would apply shade step two and blend to the other side of your eye. After I do the initial swipe, I use a windshield wiper back and forth motion until shades one and two look blended.
For Step Three, we add this light lilac shade to the outer crease and blend like mad.
For Step Three, this is where you start the shade. After that, blend on the entire crease like crazy. Typically when I’m trying to blend like a crazy person, I repeat my windshield wiper movement and also move the brush in a small circular motion to add a nice airbrush effect.
After Steps 1-3 are blended, it should look something like pictured above.
The shade pictured here gets applied to the entire eyelid.
Here is what I did with Step Four. I applied it to the entire eyelid and then of course blended it to add a smoky effect.
Here is what Steps 1-4 look like when fully applied and blended. We are almost done!
For Step Ten, were going to be making wings! Wings have been my trademark look since I was 18. It is something you have to practice. Pictured is my holy grail eyeliner, Clio Kill Black Pen Liner. This is a Korean brand that is completely waterproof and lasts very long. It costs about $15.
What I do for the first step, I draw an upward line where my eye ends. It doesn’t have to be perfect since it gets filled in.
For step two, you draw a line from the stopping point of your original line on a diagonal to the end of your eye.
For the third step, fill in your wings and get creative! You can add designs and dots for added flair.
For Step Eleven, add your favorite mascara. I really like Better Than Sex Waterproof right now. I didn’t add a picture because I was pretty sure this is self-explanatory.
For Step Twelve, I have to add a highlight. Sometimes I do but the majority of the time I don’t since I wear glasses. This product is a hologram natural highlighter that smells great.
You can see on my upper cheekbone that it adds a subtle pink and purple glow. It was applied with fingertip.
For Step Thirteen, you can add a lip shade. I chose Black Moon Cosmetics Immortal. This came in the Black Metals Trinity Collection. These are very unique and a must have.
For the first step, I always define my bottom lip first just so I know how to shape my top lip and curves. After I applied my bottom lip, I smacked my lips together for a base line to the top lip.
For Step Two, I added more of the liquid formula and finished my top lip with the curves and bow. All I have to do is spray setting spray and let down my hair because I seriously look so different with my hair back like this.

Ready…. Here comes….

The finished look! This is typically my normal routine and I’m so glad that I decided to share it with you all!

There you have it! Out of that entire bed mess, I did make something fun! If you all liked this step by step, let me know and I’ll do more! Xoxo

Tarte X Grav3yardgirl Swamp Queen Palette Swatches!

I know this palette has been out for a while, but I just started a swatch blog and it is in my collection. I have a bunch that I’m going to upload for you all for awareness on how things swatch by brush and finger for an accurate representation of shades and shadows.

This palette is a collaboration with beauty influencer Grav3yardgirl. It is a limited edition full face palette and still in stock for $45 on Tarte’s website. Basically, I love her.  Not only does she do makeup looks and fashion views, but she does a really funny YouTube series called, ‘Does This Thing Really Work?’ Where she reviews As Seen On TV products! Yes!

Here it is! I love the design on here. An alligator with wings! The look and feel of it being wood is great also.
Here’s the back of the palette. There’s no preview of shades or anything on the back except for the serial number and the net weight of the products inside.
Here’s the inside of the palette! It has a bronzer, blush, highlighter and nine eyeshadows! There’s a brush and an awesome mirror that says, ‘Believe in Yourself. Love Yourself. Embrace Your Individuality.’ The palette also smells like chocolate 🙂 to be honest, it’s not an obnoxious scent or overpowering. It is pretty nice.
Here’s the brush that comes with the palette. I decided to do the brush swatches for this palette with the brush provided 🙂

For the swatches, I did the face shades first and then three eyeshadows at a time by row.

First we have the bronzer, ‘Sweet Tea’. It has sparkles in it for extra shine. It is a bit dark for my tone but I can blend it out quite well. The blush, ‘Does This Thing Really Work?’ is a deep rose shade with sparkle in it. I love it. Last, we have the highlight, ‘Gator Wings’. I love the shade of this. However, the fallout is insane. When I used it on numerous occasions, it got all over my shirt, face, coat… everywhere. Pretty but hard to work with. :/
The first row has the shades: #SFS, Big Baby and Haunting. These are your base shades. #SFS is a shimmer base for browbone usage or eye. Big Baby is a beige shade and Haunting is more up my alley being a slight matte purple shimmer. All three of these swatch nicely by finger and brush.
These three shades include: Natural Peaches, Sassy Bun, and Uncommon. These are some really nice lid shimmer shades. Natural Peaches is a really subtle peach that can be used for a crease or base. Sassy Bun is one of my favorite shades in the whole palette. I love how gold and shimmery it is. Uncommon is a shimmery purple shade.
Here’s the last row of the palette. The three shades are: Dogman, Sippy Sippy and Mancat. Dogman is a nice burnt orange shade with sparkles. Note the difference between the finger and brush. The brush is lighter and brings out more orange which I love. Sippy Sippy has a difference in shades and has really nice sparkles in it. Mancat and Sippy Sippy are quite similar but Mancat has no sparkles and is more of a matte purple.

That’s it for all the swatches and review of this collaboration! Besides the highlighter, I love this palette. I reach for it for nice orange looks and completely reminds me of fall. I have no idea how long Tarte is going to keep this in stock so if you were curious about it, grab one!

Ipsy Bag (March!)

Hey! I’m so excited to review my glam bag this month! I don’t know if its just me but ipsy has really upped their game in the past few months! I’ve had this for about two years and I adore this subscription! Let’s get started with the cute bag this month.

Ipsy March Bag
I love how big this bag is this month! The pink is subtle and really screams spring 🙂

There were five items that I have this month to photo dump for you!

and most importantly, the bag came with this little card that says,

Never forget that we are all beautiful.
